The Central Illinois Land Bank Authority – which is based in Danville – is getting a $100-thousand dollar grant. The Illinois Housing Development Authority has announced the awarding of more than $600-thousand dollars in grants statewide to help empower local and regional revitalization efforts.
Land Banks help deal with blighted areas and also help with new development. The Central Illinois Land Bank Authority in Danville, for example, has been helping Carle in its land acquisition efforts for a planned $50-million dollar medical campus in Danville.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority says the grant money announced today can be used for startup costs for creating a land bank, operating costs, land acquisition and other locally managed revitalization techniques.
