Land bank to seek funds for pilot housing rehab program

If someone wants to get grand money for home rehabilitation program, but has no experience, and the programs want to give money to organizations with proven track records, what is one to do?

For Mike Davis, director of Central Illinois Land Bank (CILB), the answer is simple: get startup money, create a program and establish a track record, while still applying for state funds.

Davis spoke at Tuesday’s Hoopeston City Council meeting, telling the group that he plans to ask Vermilion and Champaign counties to kick in $500,000 of stimulus money to fund a rehabilitation program that would focus on updating siding, roofs and porches for low- to moderate income residents.
